Why not believe the Bible?

Please do read on. It'll only take about three minutes.

The Bible is not chosen as a primary guide for everyday living. If we know the Bible to be true, we shall find sense in living by it. However, little do most of us know about it. Let us try to remedy this problem by going through some evidences that verify the Bible's credibility.

  • Unity of the Bible. It is composed of 66 individual books, was written in 3 continents, in 3 different languages, over a period of 1600 years, by 40 different people – through all these different factors, the Bible makes one cohesive whole with Jesus Christ as its central character.
  • Bible's Indestructibility. It has lived through many attempts to destroy it. Today, it remains to be the most published book.
  • Bible's Historical Accuracy. Jesus Christ, the Bible's central character, is historically factual. Archaeological discoveries agree with the Bible and so do other written documents.

GOOD NEWS from God's Word, the Bible:

Man's Nature

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short in the glory of God."

The ONLY Solution

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast."

Your Decision

Mark 1:15 "The time has come! God's Kingdom will soon be here. Turn back to God and believe the good news!"

Now you have faced the facts, what will you do? Simply knowing is not enough. We invite you to truly live by accepting the free gift of salvation in Jesus.
Pray – that is, talk to God; be sure to:

-Acknowledge His love
-Believe in your heart that Jesus is the only way, the Saviour
-Confess your sins
-Commit to make Him Lord over your life

Your prayer may be something like this:
Dear Lord, thank You for Your great love – that You chose to suffer death on the cross for me. I am a sinner and I need You. Thank You for choosing to save me. Thank You for forgiveness and eternal life. Please give me the strength to follow You, my Saviour. You are Lord over my life.

Think about it: "The evidence for Jesus' resurrection is so strong that nobody would question it except for two things: It is a very unusual event, and second, if you believe it happened, you have to change the way you live."
Wolfhart Pannenberg, German theologian

What Now?

If you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior:
-Know and obey God's commands by Bible reading (1 John 2:5-6)
-Live like Jesus (1 Peter 3:16)

If you are not yet able to make the decision, continue to ask questions and seek answers. Any help we can offer, we will give.

We are UPLB Kapatiran, the group of Christian organizations in UPLB. If you have questions and comments, we would love to listen to and talk with you. We seek to help you know more about God and the Gospel.
